Being Jewish and raising my daughter in a Jewish home, Christmas was just a “season” to us. But gift giving was part of the season and in many of the years, Hanukkah and Christmas overlapped. One of my fondest memories is waiting in line at a Toys R Us with Helene (who is arguably one of the world’s biggest Scroogettes – “don’t mention it”) so we could get Margot a Cabbage Patch Kid. She was so excited when she opened that present.
Santa’s making his final preparation
For his annual trip to every nation.
To believing girls and boys
Requires a serious elf operation.
When it’s time to hit the road,
It takes a sleigh that can handle a load
And a reindeer team
That can fly a jet stream
And land on the roof of every abode.
