It had to happen. There was no way that a couple of limericks about the debacle in Washington were not going to pop out of my head. I am not a political pundit, though I probably could be. I have the DNA for it. I am Jewish which would mean that I am going to have an opinion on anything that can have an opinion on it. But frankly, I find the subject too depressing for my little poems and sense of humor.
But I am deeply concerned about the disdain for the people of this country that is being shown by United States Senate and House of Representatives. These people claim to be public servants. At this time nothing could be further from the truth. Arrogance and ignorance are the modus operandi of both parties and so many people are made to suffer from it. The world is laughing at us, but it is a nervous laugh as it braces for the possible harsh consequences for the world economy.
I saw a poll last Sunday that showed only 11% of those polled had any faith in Congress. The political fallout from this is going to be like a Tsunami hitting the Halls of Congress. Hopefully, it will wash away the lunacy that prevails in those hallowed halls of Democracy and Freedom where the occupants are sworn to preserve our Rights to Life, Liberty and The Pursuit of Happiness.
The U.S.Capitol should be the people’s pavillion.
It’s not with 535 governing over 300 million,
Showing more concern for wealth
Than the nation’s health
And debt growing every day by the trillion.
Now most Americans take a dim view
Of a Congress elected by few.
If the Founding Fathers could see
This pseudo democracy,
They wouldn’t believe this could possibly be true.
